The demo interface connects to a wms and a wfs (which uses the same data from Itasca). The wfs connections makes it possible to make advanced queries using point, line box or polygon for selections (the demo only works with box and polygon due to limitations in the wfs server). AppForMap reads the capabilities from the wfs and render check boxes for the available layers (press the "Advanced query" button). The returned gml is rendered in the map and attributes is parsed and presented under the map. As for wms it is possible to connect to more than one wfs. There is no Postgis involved in this demo - all data comes from shape files.
