AppForMap is a web based client for OGC Web Map Servers (WMS), MapServer and spatial enabled databases (PostGIS). It provides an HTML / javascript interface for querying wms servers/MapServer and querying/inserting/updating/deleting features in PostGIS.

AppForMap is written in php and comes with dhtml interfaces.

AppForMap can act as pure WMS client and therefore runs on any server with php scritpting langauge and without any mapping software.

For more avanced use AppForMap can connect to spatial enabled databases for avanced query, location finding, edit etc. The open standard OGC Simple Feature for SQL Specification (SFS) is used and the only SQL server that support this at the moment is PostGreSQL with the PostGIS extension.

For more avanced mapping applications AppForMap supports MapServer through MapScript. This enables the use of MapServers legend, scalebar og reference map and also stuff like dynamic creation of layers, classes and filters.

AppForMap is also a geometry library which can be used in other mapping applications.
